Post 8, 'English Language challenges'

Hi, today in the last blog I will tell you about my experience learning English in the university. I studied English 3 and 4 because the two previous ones I passed with a test, the teachers I had were different, in English 3 I had less time to upload blogs than in English 4, which made it difficult to get them done well, but my experience was good, i was already familiar with the use of blogs because at school I had a similar mode. I liked that in English 4 the teacher gave more time to deliver assignments, because this is a more complex semester and having more time is better to perform well in the other courses, in English 3 I also had listening and other tasks and in both English there were final written and oral tests to improve pronunciation. I still find it hard to start forming sentences but I understand almost everything that I read and hear, my idea is to do some English course later, because it is such an important language that you need to learn well and unfortunately with s

Post 7, 'Changes to my study programme'

Hi, today I will write about what changes I would make to the chemistry and pharmacy study program. I feel that in my mayor there are many subjects that have an unnecessary and excessive complexity and that the contents are not seen again later in the mayor, although they say they help to create a scientific thinking, I feel that they are subjects that could be eliminated or at least diminished in difficulty, this in order to have more time for the really important subjects for vocational training. On the other hand, I think the length of the mayor is ok, although due to the complexity of some areas most students complete their degree in more years than they should, the overload per semester is also quite high, which means there is no time for much more. I can't talk much about the faculty or its infrastructure, because I only know it through the laboratories, some of the lab materials are very old or broken so they should be replaced. I haven't been in any classroom yet so I d

Post 6, 'Time Travel to the future'

Hi, I would like to time travel to the place I’m going to live in the near future, Santiago in the year 2122 looks the same but with futuristic stuff, such as the automatic taxi (without actual drivers) and drones doing deliveries.  Obviously the climate has changed drastically, now there’s more of a tropical climate with heavy rains and sudden electric storms and we had to adapt to it somehow, now the tallest buildings can absorb the electric energy from the lightning and store it for future use. Also the water accumulates in a modern underground system which takes it to drought zones through the country. Besides the modern and futuristic stuff, some things have really decayed, big buildings have been abandoned and there’s new ones, but there’s also a lot of underground new spaces, like shopping centers and places of work. Plus people migrating from the city have totally changed the way of living. The modern things have positively contributed to the lives of the citizens that are left

Post 5, 'My future job'

Hi, today I will write about a job I would like to do in the future related to my mayor, chemistry and pharmacy, although it is difficult to imagine what job I would like to have, being just in the second year of the degree, because we barely have an idea of the jobs that we can have as pharmaceutical chemists. I think what I would like most is to work in some pharmaceutical or cosmetic laboratory to learn well how they work, developing drugs and doing quality control, but as far as I know, it is difficult to work in laboratories in Chile as there are few vacancies and people with more experience get the jobs, so I would like to go to another country where I can have more job opportunities. Also, here in Chile they pay less in laboratories (at least to inexperienced people) than in other jobs like in pharmacy, I hope that's more equitable in other countries, but, it's still too early to know if it's a job I'd like to do, I think the best option for know is to try out al

Hi! Today i wanted to tell you about how much the pandemic has affected our mental health as students. According to a study by the Universidad de Chile, three out of four students say that they feel "worse or much worse compared to the pre-pandemic context." And why is that? The online system sometimes seems more comfortable, but it was something totally new for us, and there are also new problems to the student life that come with this change, such as connection issues, not having a quiet place to study or going to class, not being able to talk face to face to a professor when we may need it, and the list goes on. In addition to all these problems of being a student in a pandemic, there are more external problems, many parents lost their jobs, or families have different financial problems, and this obviously makes students have their focus in their families and not university, which is logical. This new way of living was really hard for everyone, but we have to car

Hi!!, I'm going to write about a topic that relates to chemistry and pharmacy but not so directly, based on a personal experience I had a while ago. I went to the dermatologist for a slight acne problem, with the idea that he would give me a cleaning routine, but he gave me an acne medication. The medication caused me many adverse effects, I had to use it for 3 months initially, it spent about a month, and I realized that the medication was not for me because after researching, I knew it was for acne much more severe than the one I had, so I had almost all the adverse effects that came out on the label and some are permanent damage. What I want to get to by telling this, is that there is still a lot of disinformation regarding the drugs that are prescribed by doctors, and I think this could be regulated in some way if there were more medical and pharmaceutical contact at the time of prescribing drugs so that no more cases like this happen. Thanks for reading, bye!

Post 2, 'The best holidays'

Hello! The best holiday I’ve ever had was when I went to Florianopolis, Brazil in June of 2019. I went with my mom, during the winter vacation, we went for a week, and we stayed in a hotel in front of the beach, in that beach they sold some exotic fruit juices that were delicious, we bought one every day, the food in the restaurants was also great and we never had complications with communicating since our languages are kind of similar. We took some tours, and went to different beaches, we visited the fortresses and the center of Florianopolis that was far away from our hotel. On our last day, before returning to Santiago, we went on a tour to Camboriú, where we rode on a ropeway that had an amazing view. And this was the best vacation I’ve had so far, also it was my first time traveling abroad (I hope it’s not the last) and my first time in an airplane so it was super exciting doing this kind of stuff for the first time. Well that’s all, thanks for reading, bye!
